Paul has lived all his life in Bloomington. He is a graduate of Bloomington Jefferson where he was a member of the basketball and track teams. He also was in National Honor Society and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He is a small business owner taking over the insurance business his father started. James M King & Associates aka King Insurance has been serving residents of Bloomington since 1947. In 2022 Paul sold the building and moved the Agency into the Highland Bank Building.
Being a small business owner all his life, with an Business Admin Major and an Economics Minor, Paul is more than well positioned to help lead Bloomington to a resident responsible community where all can thrive and prosper.
A Respected Community Leader
Paul has been a member and President of the Bloomington Jaycees, Chairman of the Bloomington Chamber of Commerce Sports Committee, Board member and President of Minneapolis Independent Insurance Agents, Board Member of the Independent Insurance Agents of Minnesota, Fundraiser for the American Cancer Society and MDA (Muscular Dystrophy). He currently volunteers his time with the Courage Kenny Golf League. Paul sponsors many events such as Bloomington Jefferson Football Golf Fundraiser, Bloomington Lions Pancake Breakfast, Continental Ballet, and the JHS Backcourt Club to name a few.
Giving Back to Bloomington
Known as "the popcorn guy" around Bloomington, Paul has donated over 40,000 bags, popcorn machines and popcorn supplies to many civic groups, youth groups, booster clubs, and organizations for their fundraising activities. He has them helped raised over $1,500,000 over the last 30 years.
Paul gave a lot of time to coaching boys and girls sports both in city BAA and traveling programs. He also served as President of Jefferson Boys Traveling Basketball and Jefferson's Basketball/Football Boosters.
Paul also was Co-Chair of the Bloomington Renovation Renaissance bond referendum to up-grade school facilities which included the build out of both Kennedy and Jefferson's Activity Centers.
Now, Paul wants to give back to the City by serving on the City Council in District 2 where he resides today.

Family

Husband/Father
Paul has raised a daughter, Sharon and son, Scott with his wife Renee. Both Sharon and Scott are also graduates of Jefferson High School.
Paul's beloved Renee passed in 2018 after a long battle with breast cancer. When Renee was not up to marching for Cancer, Paul would do it for her.
Sharon is a teacher on special assignment in the St. Paul Public Schools. Her husband, Daniel works for the Prior Lake School District and they have three of Paul's five grandchildren.
Sharon and Daniel are busy running their children to many sports and dance activities like most young parents in Bloomington.
Paul's son Scott is a Nascar Mechanic in North Carolina where he lives with his wife Kinsi who is a High School English Teacher and their family, two sons and a new daughter.
Scott graduated from Bloomington Jefferson in 2001. He was very active in many sports participating in football, basketball and baseball.


Uncle Paul
Many times a month "Uncle Paul" visits his nephew Brock who has Muscular Dystrophy. Brock is the reason Paul often fundraises for MDS and its research.
Brock has always been a great inspiration to Paul as they enjoy their often hilarious conversations.
Brock wanted to be a part of Uncle Paul's City Council race so here he is cheering on his Uncle .
Paul's Bloomington Heritage:
Paul attended Bloomington Jefferson and graduated from Mankato State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with a minor in Economics.
His father, James M (Jim) King established the Insurance Business Paul runs today. In the early 1970's, Paul's father Jim served as Mayor of Bloomington where Paul learned many lessons of civil engagement.
Today Paul runs the insurance agency that his father started, James M King and Associates, Inc.
